Areola tattooing, is a highly specialized tattoo technique most commonly used to recreate the areola-nipple complex for breast cancer survivors who lost their nipples due to mastectomies or for clients after gender-reassignment surgery.
Areola tattoo restoration is a vital part of the healing journey for survivors in recovering physically and emotionally. By creating the illusion of a 3D nipple, they are no longer constantly reminded of the traumatic past every-time they see themselves topless. It helps them regain confidence and body positivity.
This procedure can also be performed for transgender clients to create a more ‘typically male’ or ‘female’ nipple and cover up surgical scars.
Areola tattooing may also be done on natural areola/nipples to enhance colour, create balance and adjust shape and is a popular choice after breast enlargements and reductions to cover-up scarring around the areola (i.e. lollipop scars).
The patient is involved in every step of the process from determining size, placement, and approving colour swatches. There is no downtime after the procedure.
